Orthopedics
Orthopedics Surgical Services
Orthopedic Surgery Services will provide state-of-the-art emergent and routine general Orthopedic care to active duty, dependent and retiree patients served by Martin Army Community Hospital. This includes operative and non-operative services and casting.
Services Provided
The goal of the MACH Orthotics clinic is to treat and follow patients with non-surgical and surgical orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems, peripheral neurological issues, sports injuries, biomechanical/postural/foot problems, bracing or prosthetic requirements, generated from amputations after a surgical procedure. The practice of Orthotics provides medical care necessary to restore the disabled patient to a state of optimal physical, cognitive, social, and vocational effectiveness by maximizing the use of Orthotics to restore lost functions. When disability exists, our role is preventive and restorative, and it is directed toward improvement and maintenance of maximal physical, functional, and emotional balance during the course of definitive treatment. Therefore, our goal for the active duty Soldier is to approach Orthotics with the highest standard of technology to return the soldier to the fullest function possible. To this end our mission of providing “Warrior Care” stimulates a culture of excellence in Orthotics and Prosthetics throughout the active duty, dependent, retiree, and civilian communities. Of equal importance to “Warrior Care” are the countless procedures we render to all age groups from pediatric to geriatric, and to patients who are healthy as well as to those who are medically compromised.
Referrals
Martin Orthopedics Services has the right of first refusal for all MTF referrals, and therefore reviews all referrals daily, either assigning the case to the Martin MTF or deferring to the network for care not available at Martin. Beneficiaries are referred by their Primary Care Manager (PCM). Referrals lacking adequate information or requiring more PCM care are sent back to the PCM with a note indicating the correct course of action.
Appointments
Beneficiary appointments are booked and managed as necessary. Patients are assigned to the first available appointment unless a specific provider is indicated. Additional imaging may be necessary before the exam, in which case we work with the Department of Radiology’s scheduling asset to determine an imaging time for the orthopedic patient.
Check-In
Patients check-in at the Orthopedic & Podiatry Clinic reception desk.
