Labor and Delivery (L&D)
Our state-of-the-art 5-bed labor and delivery unit comes complete with a designated 3-room triage area. We average 50 new births monthly and provide care to over 200 triage patients monthly. Our unit has a dedicated operating room and an anesthetist on deck for scheduled and unplanned procedures. We deliver at 35 weeks or greater and in addition to traditional deliveries, we also offer midwifery services. Our contemporary facilities create an atmosphere of comfort for excited parents-in-waiting. Don’t forget to ask about our Child Birth Education classes at your next OB appointment.
Martin Army Community Hospital Labor and Delivery (L&D) will be on full divert status (emergency OB care only) starting Nov. 1 for the next 30-120 days due to an OB nursing shortage. During this time, MACH L&D will have very limited staff and will only be able to support obstetric emergencies. Most newborns will need to be delivered at one of our civilian network hospitals.
We understand that this may disrupt your plans, and we share in your disappointment that we won’t be able to deliver your babies during this period. Please know that we are committed to supporting you in every way possible and will continue to provide all the prenatal care you need.
All TRICARE beneficiaries in active labor are advised to go to a local network civilian hospital instead of MACH unless specifically instructed otherwise by their OB care team. Established patients expected to deliver within the next 120 days will be contacted directly by their OB care team to update their birthing plans and address any questions and concerns. TRICARE-Humana has already notified our network hospitals of this divert status.
We are here to answer any questions you may have. For specific questions, please speak with your obstetric provider. For additional inquiries, please contact MACH L&D Triage at 762-408-5077.
Postpartum
The postpartum unit features 14 private rooms as we provide infant rooming-in/couplet care to help promote family bonding during this time. Our nursery is available and staffed to handle any immediate or emergent needs that may present at delivery and functions as an infant treatment room. After delivery you will be under the care of your OB/GYN and/or OB/GYN residents. Your pediatrician will be responsible for your baby’s care and will visit daily. Your OB/GYN will also visit you each day to monitor your condition. During these visits, be sure to ask them any questions you may have regarding your recovery, medications, concerns, etc. Our wonderful team is dedicated to providing 24-hour care to you and your baby as you recover from the birthing process.
